🌿 Overview
Tree of Wisdom features a living miniature tree rising from a moss-covered hill inside a tall, open glass vessel. The composition is minimal and elegant: a bonsai-style canopy, natural rock, and a lush carpet of moss. It’s simple to care for when you keep the top layer evenly moist and provide soft, regular light.
💧 Wateringthe |
Baseline: 2× per week, small amounts.
Check first: Gently press the moss/soil near the trunk. If the surface feels dry or looks pale, water. If still moist, wait a day.
How to water: Use a squeeze bottle or slow pour to “ring-water” around the trunk, letting the moss wick moisture evenly. Avoid flooding or leaving standing water.
-
Room differences:
Humid/cool rooms → you may only need 1× per week.
Warm/dry rooms → a light top-up between waterings may be needed.
Water quality: Use filtered or dechlorinated water to protect moss and prevent mineral spotting.
Goal: moss slightly damp, roots moist but never soggy.
☀️ Light
Place in bright, indirect light or use the included lamp for ~8 hours/day.
Avoid harsh direct sun (it overheats glass and scorches moss).
Do not keep the light on 24/7—plants need a nightly dark period to breathe and stay healthy.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Ideal indoors: 18–25 °C (65–77 °F).
Normal home humidity (50–70 %) is perfect. If your air is very dry (<40 %), a light mist on the moss (not the trunk) helps.
Keep away from heaters, AC vents, or cold drafts.
✂️ Pruning & Shape
Lightly tip-prune the tree every few weeks to maintain the miniature canopy.
Use clean scissors; avoid removing more than 20% of foliage in one session.
Trim back moss only if it overgrows rocks or the trunk base.
🧹 Cleaning & Upkeep
Wipe the glass with a soft, dry cloth to remove smudges or light condensation.
Remove fallen/yellowing leaves promptly to prevent mold.
If you see persistent fog on the glass, slightly reduce watering and improve room airflow.
❓ Troubleshooting
Leaves curling or edges browning → usually underwatering or heat; water and move to softer light.
Lower leaves yellowing, soil looks soggy → likely overwatering; let the top dry before the next watering and reduce volume.
Moss turning brown → too much sun or allowing it to dry completely; move to gentler light and resume regular, light watering.
White fuzzy patches (mold) → reduce watering, improve airflow; wipe gently with a cotton swab.
Softness at trunk base → sign of chronic overwatering—keep the surface drier and water smaller amounts.
🌱 Feeding (optional)
Fertilizer isn’t required. If desired during spring/summer, apply a quarter-strength balanced liquid fertilizer every 6–8 weeks, directed to the soil ring (avoid the moss).
