🌿 Overview
The ZenFlow Terrarium blends a bonsai-style tree, vivid moss carpets, and colorful understory plants into a tall, elegant glass vessel.
Typical planting elements visible in this design include:
Miniature woody shrub (often dwarf Ficus or boxwood) forming the upper canopy.
Cushion or sheet moss covering the ground for constant greenery.
Fittonia (nerve plant) for red-pink highlights near the stone path.
Small grassy accents (such as Selaginella or dwarf mondo grass) for texture around rocks.
These species thrive together in a bright, humid environment when given regular but gentle care.
💧 Watering
Baseline: Water twice per week, light amounts each time.
Check first: Press the moss surface. Water only when it feels slightly dry.
Goal: Keep moss evenly moist, never waterlogged.
Use filtered or dechlorinated water to avoid mineral deposits on the glass and stress to moss roots.
In cooler or naturally humid rooms, you may scale back to once a week; in dry rooms, a light mid-week mist may be needed.
☀️ Light
Place in bright, indirect sunlight or under the included LED lamp for ~8 hours per day.
Avoid harsh direct midday sun to prevent overheating and leaf burn.
Do not run the lamp continuously—plants need a nightly dark period to respire.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Ideal indoor range: 18–25 °C (65–77 °F).
Normal household humidity (around 50–70 %) is sufficient.
Keep away from heaters, air conditioners, or cold drafts.
✂️ Pruning & Shape
Lightly tip-prune the miniature tree every few weeks to maintain its bonsai shape.
Trim moss or Fittonia as needed to keep pathways and rocks visible.
Always use clean, sharp scissors to avoid plant damage.
🧹 Cleaning & Upkeep
Wipe inside glass with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove condensation or algae film.
Remove any fallen or yellowing leaves promptly to prevent mold.
If persistent condensation forms, slightly reduce watering and increase room airflow.
❓ Troubleshooting
Moss browning: Caused by too much direct sun or letting it dry completely. Move to gentler light and resume regular misting.
Tree leaves drooping or yellowing: Usually underwatering; check soil moisture and water lightly.
White fuzzy mold: Reduce watering, improve airflow, and gently wipe with a cotton swab if needed.
Mineral spots on glass: Use filtered water and clean the glass regularly.
🌱 Feeding (Optional)
Fertilizer is rarely needed. If desired during spring/summer, apply a quarter-strength balanced liquid fertilizer every 6–8 weeks, targeting the soil near the tree and avoiding direct contact with moss.
