🌿 Overview
The Waterfalling Terrarium combines a lush moss landscape with a circulating waterfall feature powered by a hidden pump.
Inside you’ll find:
Live moss and small companion plants for the upper landscape.
A miniature water wheel that spins as water circulates.
Natural stonework creates a layered cliff scene.
A discreet submersible pump to keep the waterfall flowing.
This design brings gentle sound and movement while maintaining a humid microclimate that moss loves.
💧 Water & Pump Maintenance
Water Level
Keep the reservoir at least halfway full so the pump remains submerged.
Use filtered or dechlorinated water to avoid mineral buildup.
Refilling
Check every 3–4 days; top up as needed to maintain flow.
In dry rooms, water evaporates faster—monitor more often.
Cleaning & Pump Care
Every 2–4 weeks, turn off and unplug the pump.
Remove and rinse the pump and tubing under running water—no soap.
Wipe algae or sediment from the reservoir with a soft cloth.
If the water wheel slows, check for debris in the pump intake.
For easy partial water changes or top-ups, use the
PlantPico Water Changer.
🌱 Plant Care
Watering moss: Mist lightly 1–2 times per week or whenever the top layer begins to look dry.
The waterfall keeps ambient humidity high, so heavy watering is not needed.
Remove any yellowing moss or fallen leaves promptly to prevent mold.
☀️ Light
Place in bright, indirect sunlight or use the included LED lamp for ~8 hours/day.
Avoid direct midday sun to prevent overheating the pump or scorching the moss.
Do not leave the lamp on 24/7—plants need a dark period to respire.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Ideal indoor range: 18–25 °C (65–77 °F).
Normal home humidity (50–70 %) is ideal; the running water naturally raises local humidity.
🧹 General Cleaning
Wipe the outer glass weekly to remove fingerprints and light condensation.
Rinse decorative stones if algae forms—no soap.
❓ Troubleshooting
Pump noise or weak flow: Check water level first; refill if low. Clean pump intake if debris is present.
Algae in reservoir: Perform a 30–50 % water change and wipe surfaces. Reduce lamp hours slightly if algae builds quickly.
Moss browning: Caused by strong direct sun or neglecting misting. Move to gentler light and resume regular misting.
🌱 Optional Fertilizer
Fertilizer is not required. If desired, use a very diluted liquid houseplant fertilizer once every 6–8 weeks, directed to moss areas (avoid the pump water to prevent algae blooms).
