🌊 Overview
The Water World Terrarium combines a living moss garden above with a mini aquarium below.
It’s designed for small freshwater fish (such as betta or tiny shrimp) and lush moss or low-light aquatic plants, creating a self-contained ecosystem of land and water.
From the image and typical kit contents:
Upper level: moss carpet (e.g., cushion or java moss) anchored on natural stone.
Lower level: freshwater section for a single betta or nano fish.
This setup requires both basic aquarium maintenance and moss care.
🐟 Aquatic Care
Tank Size & Stocking
Designed for one betta fish or a few nano shrimp/snails—do not overstock.
Water Quality
Use dechlorinated or conditioned tap water or filtered water.
Maintain a temperature of 24–27 °C (75–80 °F) for a betta.
-
Perform 20–30% partial water changes weekly.
Use the PlantPico Water Changer or a small siphon—no soap.
Filtration & Aeration
The design supports a single betta without a strong filter; a gentle sponge filter is optional.
Keep the water calm—bettas prefer minimal current.
Feeding
Feed high-quality betta pellets or frozen/live food once or twice daily.
Remove uneaten food to prevent ammonia spikes.
🌿 Terrarium (Upper Level) Care
Watering & Humidity
Mist the moss 1–2 times per week or whenever the surface begins to dry.
The open aquarium below naturally humidifies the moss, so light misting is enough.
Light
Provide bright, indirect light or the included lamp for ~8 hours/day.
Avoid direct midday sun to prevent overheating the water and scorching the moss.
Cleaning
Wipe the inside of the glass gently with a soft cloth.
Remove fallen leaves or debris to prevent mold.
❓ Troubleshooting
Cloudy Water:
Usually caused by excess food or infrequent water changes. Do a 30% partial change and reduce feeding.
Algae on Glass or Rocks:
Mild algae is normal; gently wipe during water changes.
Reduce light hours slightly if algae builds quickly.
Moss Browning:
Caused by low humidity or excessive direct light. Mist lightly and reposition the lamp.
Fish Stress (clamped fins, lethargy):
Check water temperature and ammonia levels; perform a partial water change.
🌱 Optional Fertilizer
For aquatic plants (if added), use a liquid aquarium plant fertilizer at half the normal dose every 2–4 weeks.
